A bystander said, ‘Master, will only a few be saved’?

He said, ‘Whether few or many is none of your business. Put your mind on your life with God. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires your total attention. A lot of you are going to assume that you’ll sit down to God’s salvation banquet just because you’ve been hanging around the neighborhood all your lives. Well, one day you’re going to be banging on the door, wanting to get in, but you’ll find the door locked and the Master saying, ‘Sorry, you’re not on my guest list.’

You’ll protest, ‘But we’ve known you all our lives!’ only to be interrupted with his abrupt, ‘Your kind of knowing can hardly be called knowing. You don’t know the first thing about me.’ That’s when you’ll find yourselves out in the cold, strangers to grace. OMG… Didjaheardat? Think about it! It’s not that difficult! Just use a little common sense. If Time is the most valuable commodities you have in the earth, then why go to hell by default? Seriously!

Since, not one of us knows how much time we have left to spend in this life, it behooves every one of us to manage it wisely. In other words, don’t blow it presumptuously!

Let’s keep it real!  Face it, is, even on your bestest days, our score still isn’t high enough to merit a free pass through Heaven’s Pearly Gates. Truthfully, unless you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, at the end of the day, we’re all spiritually bankrupt and not one of us can afford the high price of low living.

BUT GOD has put a deal on the table that we’d have to be a fool to refuse. It’s called Salvation by Grace. By His Amazing Grace, The Father of Creation has offered and accepted The Blood of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus, as collateral to completely wipe out a debt that HE DIDN’T EVEN OWE, and one that we would never EVVRRRR be able to pay!

I know, sounds UNBELIEVABLE, but it’s TRUE! THAT’S THE GOSPEL!

It’s right there in John Chapter 3:16! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

When we admit that we’re guilty of rebellion against His Righteousness, are willing to accept Jesus into our hearts and commit the rest our of lives to faithful obedience to His standards, GOD fixes the BOOKS! YES, IT’S ACCOUNTS SETTLED—PAID IN FULL! #didjagetit?  WHACHAWAITN4??? #slowbus,huh?

“Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.” Ezekiel 36:22-23

‘FOR GOD’S SAKE!’ How many times have you heard that? Most often it’s an expression used in an effort to persuade someone of your sincerity or swearing to a certain commitment! Backndaday (as my grandchildren say), there was an old saying, ‘A man’s word, is his bond’. In other words, yea was yea and nay was nay! Wonder why you don’t hear that much anymore? Today, instead of shaking hands, you’d better have a legal contract documenting the terms of agreement! And even then, you might need some deep pockets to carry you through your opponent’s legal appeals! Right?

Can you imagine how God felt, having hand-picked a people, wholly committing GODSELF and swearing by HIS NAME to love and care for them, unlike no other nation in the earth in the history of mankind, promising to give them their own land eternally, only to have His Chosen, reject and abandon Him; giving themselves over to polluted ‘no-god’ worship? Well that’s exactly what The Israelites did!

The ungrateful obstinacy of God’s Elect, provoked God’s Holy Anger to the point that He uprooted the entire nation scattering them to alien countries. Yet, not even their despicable unfaithful adulterous actions could separate them from The Faithfulness of God’s Love!

Having been exiled to foreign nations, the Israelites suffered unbelievable humiliation from people, whom by God’s own definition, were ‘worst than my people’! Wherever they were forced to go, God’s people were sentenced to shameful ridicule! But even more devastating, God’s Name and Holy Reputation was being defiled throughout every country they landed. God’s desire to raise up a holy nation, a royal priesthood showcasing His Wondrous Glory and Amazing Grace causing those other nations, yet under the bondage of sin, to forsake their evil ways and run to God for Salvation, was being thwarted due to the ungodliness of His Own People!

The Master decreed, ‘enough is enough’ and determined by His Own counsel to deliver His People!  Despite their proven unworthiness,  God pulled them out of their self-made stinky situation once again bringing them back to the land promised to their ancestors, blessed them to the extent that the surrounding nations stood gasping, amazed at the sight of such bountiful outpouring of God’s Favor! WOW! That’s what you call MERCY, huh?

However, God made it explicitly clear that He wasn’t doing this to make a name for the people, or even because the people deserved it, but rather, because HIS NAME was on the line! GOD’S NAME, represents GOD’S WORD!

That’s the core of our personal salvation, my precious saints! When we dare to step out by faith, not allowing our own unworthiness to reject God’s Mercy, but gratefully accepting God’s Loving Kindness towards us, trusting solely upon the sacredness of God’s reputation and God’s Word, whosoever can have whatsoever God decrees! FOR GOD’S SAKE!

 SMH!!!! Coming into another dimension of Revelation of the ‘almost too good to be true’ Gospel of Jesus Christ, my only appropriate response is shaking my head in wonder-filled absolute amazement! I’m not a novice to this thing we call ‘Salvation’, by no means. I’ve been saved for more than thirty years! Yet, I’m almost embarrassed to admit it; nevertheless, for most of my walk with Christ, I’ve struggled secretly imprisoned by guilt and shame for sins I have committed. And I’m not just talking about those B.C. (before Christ). I’m talking about the since I’ve been saved stuff too! 

Just in case someone else out there knows what I’m talking about, I feel an urging in my spirit, compelling me to put myself out on blast just to let you know that there’s Hope for you also, and it’s “IN” Christ Jesus!

Now, don’t get it twisted!  I’m not trying to push the blame off on somebody else. I’m just acknowledging that for whatever reason I adapted a sense of ‘performance-based-legalism’ that followed me right into Christianity! Do good, get good—do bad, get bad!  This kind of thinking just about seals the deal—you’re doomed for failure and defeat, desolation and destruction because there’s no wiggle-room for our innately flawed human characteristics. You lie because you are a liar, you steal because you are a thief; you sin because you were born a sinner!

The Devil’s had a very long time to master deception and manipulation. Frankly,  he’s become quite proficient in using us against us! He cloaks his best handiwork in fostering our ‘self-righteousness, self-degradation and ultimate self-rejection’! Yall know how he just loves to throw a rock and hide his hand. Unfortunately there’s little need to change his tactics, after all, it still works!

Truth be told, on our ‘bestest’ days, we still aren’t good enough to somehow deserve God’s Grace! That’s what’s so Great about Salvation! Even if we could, by accident, done some ‘right’ act it never would’ve equaled out all of the ‘wrong’ acts we’ve committed.

That’s why God sent Jesus!

God knew the first plan was not and never could work—because ‘they just don’t have it in them’! In Hebrews 10:18 Jesus said it something like this…this new covenant will not be written on tablets of stone, but ‘I’m writing it in their hearts and in their minds’! Father, prepare me A Body… I, The Righteous One, will come to live in them and will empower them to become righteous and do right things the right way!

OMG, SMH…AGAIN! Didjaheardat?

It ain’t about ‘you’ it’s all about ‘JESUS’!!!

Hence, why keep trying to earn something that God’s already given you for free? Just accept Jesus’  unmerited Love and Loyalty by living  your life to the fullest every day in HIM!

That’s what it means to be ‘BORN AGAIN’ …saved and set free! IT’S SUCH A BLESSING…NO MORE CHAINS HOLDING ME!

When we place our personal confident trust not in ‘self’ –not in what we can’t do—but IN WHAT JESUS CHRIST HAS ALREADY DONE, WE’RE FREE—TO DO AND BE EVERYTHING HE WANTS US TO BE! —IN DEED–LIVE FREE!

GOD'Z EXPECTATIONS

SELAH Daily Devotions!

 

Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?  shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Micah 6:6-8

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 2:10

 

For those of us, who truly love God with all of our hearts, spirit, soul and body, yet feel an intrinsic urging to apologize to Him each and every day because it’s a guarantee that at some point between the time you get out of bed and the time you crawl back into bed, you have inevitably fallen short of living up to God’s Righteous expectations of you, have I got some great news for you!

Given the fact that He is our Creator, God is perfectly justified in establishing specific standards of behavior for us to live by. Hence, it also stands to reason that because He has shown such unfathomable loving-kindness, tender-mercy and unmerited favor towards us, that the only reasonable response should be radical thanksgiving and faithful obedience! Yet, try as we may, left to our own efforts, we’re totally incapable of reaching this level of holy worship that God so richly deserves.

I mean, even on those day where we actually do some righteous things, they could never equal out all our unrighteous thoughts, words and deeds! So we certainly can’t gloat in our self-righteousness. However there’s yet Hope for our terminal dis-ease!

According to God’s Word, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

Truthfully, my precious ones, what God really expects from each one of us, is failure! And from sixty something years of personal experience, I can testify, with absolute confidence, that we can surely do! Royally! Can I get a Hallelujah and Amen 3x?

Dontchakno?  It’s only when we come to the end of ourselves and acknowledge our weaknesses that God is truly glorified!

For without Him, we can do absolutely nothing, however through Christ’s strength, we can do all things.(Ref. Matthew 19:26, Philippians 4:13) As long as we think we’re capable of doing anything on our own, we deceive ourselves and deny God the pleasure of delivering us from any and everything that is trying to hold us captive. That’s why The Bible encourages the weak to say I am strong. (Ref. Joel 3:10) Therefore, with holy boldness, we humbly confess that the only thing standing between our strength and weakness, righteousness and wickedness, success and failure, is Jesus!

GLORRAAAA 2 GOD! Christ IN us, The Hope of Glory, guarantees our victory every single time! (Ref. Colossians 1:27)

WHO NU ACCOMPLISHING GOD’S EXPECTATIONS WAS THAT EASY, huh?

Ever noticed how that sometimes 21th Century Church folk lifestyles assert the attitude ‘I’m gonna live just close enough to God to say I’m saved yet close enough to the world to fit in’?

Anybody remember when the deacons testified, “I come over here to stay!” and the Missionaries would haply proclaim “I’ve come too far to turn around!”?

It seems to me that once upon a time, the people of God reverenced God’s Gracious Gift of Salvation with such an holy awe that’s rarely experienced in the lives of converted believers today. It’s almost as if Jesus is type of ornate accessory to life as usual, which can be applied and removed at one’s own discretion. WOW! itain’tmybusiness2judge BUT…  I’m jus say’n, yall! What a stark divergence from church culture of yesterdays.

Imagine what a difference it might make if the world could see more saints actually living in divine fellowship with Jesus Christ—everyday! What if more of God’s people really trusted the Holy Bible to be The Only Infallible, God-Inspired-Written-Word for personal salvation, guidance and instructions to live consecrated according to God’s standards for Righteousness? What if, instead of bombarding the Gates of The Throne Room pleading for a man, woman, a better paying job, bigger homes, newer cars, another college degree, another spouse, the saints would entreat The Savior’s Presence crying out, “Just A Closer Walk with Thee”?

What if, instead of us sending subliminal messages to our young people that ‘it’s okay to do you, sow your wild oats, after all you got time’, the seasoned-sanctified-saints could humble ourselves to be transparent enough to encourage the future deacons, evangelists, pastors, preachers, teachers to surrender their hearts to The Savior now and not wait (regrettably, like many of us) until they’ve been beaten, broken down and tarnished and tainted by the world’s dainties, but while they have sound minds and strong bodies, to devote their lives to serving The Creator!

Don’t get me wrong, in retrospect there were a lotta things about the good ol’ days that I’m truly grateful to be delivered from. Nevertheless, considering the desperately despicable state of this New Millennium Age today, we might need to revisit and revamp a lot more of the ol’ church’s teachings. Perhaps then, we’d stop doing our Sunday morning church thang and BE The HOLY-WALKING True Bride of Christ earnestly anticipating the soon coming return of our King!

While change is inevitable, personal salvation is a choice! HENCE, DON’T THROW THE BABY OUT WITH THE BATH WATER!
