SELAH Daily Devotions!
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, he is my defence, I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psalm 62:5-7
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
Can we be 4 real, 4REAL? Sometimes, even the faith-filled saints get discouraged. Particularly when you’re doing all you know to live Godly yet nothing seems to be going right. Of course, we know who’s working behind this kind of thinking; but every now and then it appears as if the devil is a true prophet!
Yet, instead of throwing up our hands, giving in to discouragement, losing heart and just pulling the covers over our heads, and burying your faith in a pit of pain and hopelessness…get yourself up! How? The same way that David did when it seemed as if everything and everyone had turned against him. He looked not to himself, but to The Rock that was higher than “I”! (Ref. 1 Samuel 30:6)
That Rock is Jesus, The LIVING Word!
If you’re not careful, you will start repeating all the negative nonsense that the enemy is planting in your head instead of calling those things that be not as though they were and summoning up the positive things that God’s Grace has prepared for you, for such times as these!
When the devil says, ‘you might as well forget it, it ain’t never gonna happen; what you’re asking and believing God to do is impossible’—you say “All things are possible” (Luke 18:20)
When the devil says, ‘even if He did it for them, you don’t have enough faith for Him to do it for you’—you say “But God is no respecter of person, (Acts 10:34) and therefore I believe that He’s given everyone the same measure of faith to do anything we need Him to do!” (Ref. Romans 12:3)
When the devil says, ‘you can’t go on; you might as well give up’—you say “I can do all things through Christ, His Grace is sufficient for me!” (Ref. Philippians 4:13; 2 Corinthians 12:9 and Psalm 91:15)
When the enemy reminds you that ‘you’re too scarred to do it’—you say “But my God hasn’t given me a spirit of fear so even if I’m afraid…I’m still gonna do it” (Ref. 2 Timothy 1:7)
Don’t stop now, because he won’t! He’s going for the gusto… ‘uh, you do know that nobody really cares about you anyhow’—you say “God says, I love you” (John 3:16 and John 3:34)
And when he’s really scarred, he’ll pull this one out …’its too hard, why don’t you just give it a rest, after all—ain’t nobody perfect and…and …. that’s when you hit him with the BIG ONE—“BUT IN THE END…IT’LL BE WORTH IT ALL!” (Ref. Romans 8:28)
WHEN WHAT YOU SEE WITH YOUR EYES AND HEAR WITH YOUR YEARS…IS CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU’RE BELIEVING GOD FOR…JUST GET A SECOND OPINION!
