“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrew 11:1

 

Several years ago, I heard a teaching by Kenneth Copeland, reminiscing about his early experiences in the family church. Bro. Copeland said that just about every Sunday morning, it was pretty much guaranteed that you’d hear the Preacher say ‘you gotta have faith’, or ‘you need to increase youaith’, or ‘if it’s not of faith then, it’s sin’. Bro. Copeland remembered how frustrating it was because the Preacher never told them how a poor soul might procure this precious gift of faith!

Well, guess what? Not much has changed, huh? Even now, given the popularity of 21st Century prosperity doctrinal teachings, I’d venture to say that a whole of churchgoers are still confused about they can exercise true biblical faith in their lives. Contrary to New Millennium mysticism , faith is not a new theological doctrine reserved for the elect seminary scholars. God has given every one of us ‘a measure of faith’…and it’s a free gift, yall! No one can work hard enough or be good enough to earn or deserve it! But The Heavenly Father so graciously pours it into us when we open our hearts to HIM!

Simply put, Faith is a patient confident trust in the integrity and power of our Loving and Caring Heavenly Father!

Faith is the currency of exchange in The Kingdom of God! Duuhhh! God doesn’t need our money! EVERYTHING, including all the silver and gold belongs to Him! However, we need faith to get anything from Him. In fact, you can’t even approach God unless you believe that He exists and is able to do what you need Him to do for you. Sounds like it’s virtually impossible to please God without it, huh? (Ref. Hebrew 11:6)

Hebrews Chapter 12, dubbed The Hall of Faith, highlights several examples of ordinary men and women, who activated their faith and achieved extraordinary things thru God! Nevertheless, to relegate God’s Faithfulness to an historical phenomenon seems to suggest that He’s changed—and that’ll NEVER happen! (Ref. Hebrews 13:8) Perhaps that’s why Today’s text says now faith and not then faith, huh?

After all that God has done for us, trusting Him seems only reasonable! (Ref. Romans 12:1-2)

Did you know that your Heavenly Father is absolutely delighted when His sons and daughters genuinely trust in Him! Seriously!

Faith in God says, ‘Father I believe that You love me unconditionally and always have my best interest at heart. Even if it doesn’t look like it, I am fully persuaded that my God is working everything together for my highest good and His Greatest Glory!’ (Ref. Romans 8:28)

WOW! REMEMBER, IF HE did it before, HE WILL DO IT NOW! —NOW THAT’S FAITH!

“And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26

“Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” Acts 14:17

 

I recognize this might be hard for some of you to believe, yet as quiet as it’s kept, sometimes, it AIN’T EASY being a Christian!   Don’t shout me down now! #ijs! 

Over the past several years, many of God’s people have been going through some of the most barren, bone dry places of spiritual wilderness that they’ve experienced in their lives!

Oh, I know! We aren’t usually allowed to be so transparent (especially amongst the piously religious folk). “But, IIIII HEEEAAARRDDD” (in my best preaching voice, yall) “DA BBIIBLLE SAYS….’Many are the afflicitons of the righteous. BUT! The Lord delivers them out of them all!’” (Psalm 34:19) “CAN I GET A AMEN, CHURRCH?”

Honestly, those of you who ain’t ashamed to stand on God’s Word, recognize that God factors into our life’s iternary intermittent seasons of drought as well as luxurant abundance. Not to destroy us! He takes no pleasure in allowing His servants to suffer lack. GOD FORBID! But that His Beloved Children may learn to rely upon His Faithful Compassionate Love, regardless of harsh environmental conditions!

I don’t mean to be sacrilegious! However, sometimes knowing that all of us go through is not enough!

Nevertheless, since I must, knowing there’s a reward awaiting on the otherside worth enduring this hell to get what God has for you, somehow ignites the momentum to thrust forward!

As you walk through these unavoidable, tempestuous, unsettling spells, a seed of earnest expectation within your heart begins to sprout! Some call it a second-wind. I call is a Dinvinely prescriped injection of SUPER-GRACE! While you may not know when, where or how, somewhere down in the seat of your being, you know that a Holy-Ghost induced revival is on the way to you.

Unlike the regularly scheduled evangelistic revivals, where the unsaved are targeted, a Holy-Ghost unctioned revival is an Outpouring of Divinely Designed gut-drenching showering of blessings that quickens, revitalizes, refreshing anew the thirsty and hungering souls of those who have weathered the storms, trudging through the desolate terrain, bearing the heat of the day, trusting soley on The Promise “…Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”! (Ref. Matthew 28:20)

If you’re like me, you need the Wind of God to breath on you—again! But this time, you don’t want to stay in the same position you were before you went in. You want God to take you higher, so when that devil comes looking for you, he won’t be able to find you laying down in that same spot.

I just believe that you’re ready for everything in your life to be elevated to higher ground! I’m talking your faith, your prayer life, your praise, your obedience even your awareness of God’s Presence taking a quantrum leap toward your Purpose, huh? Of course you do!

Let the devil know, “AIN’T NO QUIT IN ME! DON’T LET MY SWEAT FOOL U, I’M HEADED FOR THE SHOWERS!”

“And said to his servant, go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up and looked, and said. There is nothing. And he said, go up again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, behold there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, go up, say unto Ahab. Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain.”(1 Kings 18:43-45)

 

It’s one thing to say that we trust God, but it’s how we endure the proving time that determines the genuineness of our trust!

Life inevitably includes intervals of those pesty impositions I call ‘the dark times’! Like unexpected uninvited guest, trouble has a way of poppin in and staying way longer than we’d prefer! And to make matters more unsettling, it’s during these seasons that we’ll most likely to experience times when all evidence to substantiate that God is still with you and any sign indicating that He’s even listening to your prayers is essentially non-existent!

Knowing personally, it’s not easy watching our children’s lives being ravished by sickness and their youthful dreams and ambitions dissipated by helpless hopelessness. But this is where the clichés that we so impressively sprout off to others are proven real or Memorex! Yet it’s in the midst of the storms God reveals His Best Handy Work. Who would’ve ever imagined that in spite of the dire forecast, The Son yet shines, leading and drawing us closer to Himself! Clearly, He’s determined, through any means necessary, to prove unequivocally that everything that the devil meant for evil, God can turn it around and make it work in our favor! (Ref. Romans 8:28)

Oh My! How my soul rejoiced that day, hearing that my son had given his life to The Lord during a bible study class the evening before! Little did I know that God would use this storm to woo him into seeking Him for himself positioning him for the miraculous showers of blessings that would followed! And most certainly, I never imagined as I was praying that God would stretch my faith and increase my knowledge of His Wisdom and Power, that I’d have to bury a son to experience a whole new level of God’s Sustaining Super-Grace.

The Prophet Elijah teaches his young protégé that even when we can’t see no way to escape the threat of emminent destruction, we can yet trust God’s Heart and His Hands. God’s vision is far greater than 20/20. It’s from eternity past to eternity future! God watches guardingly over us thru The Blood stained eyes of Jesus. And through confident trust and quiet patience we discover God’s Faithfulness!

Today, you may find yourself plagued by all manner of maladies. Many of God’s people being wounded and worn out by the insidious attacks of the enemies of God are losing hope for life getting any better. But remember, anything is possible with God! Troubles have a predesignated date of expiration; yet our prayers are eternal.

As people of Hope, instead of surrendering to the pressures of circumstantial evidence, we pray; committing ourselves and our circumstances to our Omnipotent, Omniscient Omnipresent Savior and Lord! Relying wholeheartedly upon His Love and the sufficiency of His Grace to sustain and deliver us! As we pray, God intervenes in His designated timing, turning everything the devil meant for evil—for our greatest good and His Highest Glory! (Ref. 1 Chronicles 7:14)

Don’t allow the darkness to deceive you. Could God be using the clouds to shield you from your enemies view, aligning you up for an unexpected miracle? (Ref. Exodus 13:21) I know it’s been a long night, but don’t give up! They tell me, the darkest hour is just before the break of a new day.

Go take another look! See that? AFTER THIS, LOOK FOR THE GLORY!
